The LG UltraGear 27GS85Q-B is a 27-inch gaming monitor designed to deliver a satisfactory visual experience for fast-paced applications. It features an IPS LCD panel with LED backlighting, providing stable viewing angles and decent overall display quality. With a pixel density of 109 pixels per inch, images and text appear adequately sharp for standard gaming and everyday use.
The monitor’s standout feature is its high refresh rate of 200 Hz, which allows for smooth and fluid motion in fast action scenarios, making it particularly beneficial for competitive gamers. Despite offering a broad color range of 1.07 billion displayable colors, its color rendering is rated as very poor, which limits its effectiveness in color-critical tasks such as professional photo editing or content creation.
Connectivity options are limited, offering minimal flexibility for multiple device hookups, and the monitor lacks built-in stereo speakers, which may require the use of external audio solutions. Additional features and enhancements are considered very poor, so users seeking customization or advanced display options may find functionality lacking.
In summary, the LG UltraGear 27GS85Q-B is a 27-inch IPS gaming monitor with a high refresh rate and standard display performance, best suited for gamers prioritizing motion clarity over color accuracy or connectivity options.

I've been using this monitor for a while now, and it's quickly become my daily driver for a variety of tasks. Overall, I'm very impressed, though there's one significant caveat. The color accuracy on this monitor is genuinely good. Out of the box, it provides vibrant and precise colors, which makes it great for general viewing and even some more color-critical work. I regularly use it for color correction and editing in DaVinci Resolve, and the results have been very satisfying for an IPS gaming panel at this price point. It's also excellent for coding and simply watching content, offering a sharp and immersive experience. Gaming on this monitor is great. The 1440p resolution combined with the high refresh rate (boosted upto 200hz) delivers incredibly smooth and clear visuals. Fast-paced games feel incredibly responsive, and the image quality is crisp. However, the HDR performance is not good. It's quite underwhelming and frankly, can make content look worse than in SDR. This might be partly due to how Windows handles HDR, but regardless, if you're buying this specifically for a premium HDR experience, you'll be disappointed. I've found it best to just leave HDR off. In conclusion, if you're looking for a versatile 1440p monitor with excellent color accuracy for productivity (editing, coding) and a fantastic gaming experience, this LG UltraGear model is a strong contender. Just set your expectations low for HDR, and you'll likely be very happy with your purchase.

The Monitor is Fantastic and has no dead pixel or defects. On PC getting proper 180hz and OC 200hz via DP cable and upto144hz via HDMi. Very minimal backlight bleeding as expected from an ips panel. For PS5 you can get 120hz refresh rate in 1440p, but no ALLM or VRR support due to HDMI 2.0. I can also see 2160p supported at 60fps in ps5. Note: for AMD graphics card users you need to disable HDCP in adrenaline software for DP ports to work else you won't be able to get display via DP ports. Coming to quality of the product it's top notch.

I received the same monitor that was reported and returned for Dead Pixels by 2 other users - which is not unacceptable. I'm afraid to order again as i'm sure i will received the same one again. So do not want to take the risk. This same monitor few months back was available for cheaper on the LG website. The price should decrease on Amazon. Coming to the review Packaging - Box was shabby and had bends and holes, looks like it was retaped by the seller Inside - The cables were not packaged correctly , had been opened before as it was evident Monitor condition - Other than the dead pixel , the display was decent, but the monitor had scratches and lot finger prints on the screen. Suggestion - please do not send the same monitor to other customers just so that you can offload the piece and shift the blame. It's not ethical. if a product returned for bad quality please send it back to the manufacturer.

Have been using this monitor for a week, have to say it's bang for the buck for gaming/work/entertainment !!" Pros : 1. Colors : Because it is a Nano-IPS it has 1.07 Billion colors (normal IPS display has 16.7 million only). 2. Display : IPS glow/bleed is barely present if you are at the correct eye angle to the monitor. Blacks are also very good. 3. Refresh rate : By default the RR is 180Hz which can be easily overclocked to 200Hz from the monitor joystick underneath. 4. Ports : 2 x USB 2.0 (Type-A;downstream) and 1 x USB 3.0 (Type-B; upstream) and 2 x HDMI 2.0 and 1 x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1 x 3.5 mm Audio Out. 5. Cables : 1 HDMI 2.0 cable, 1 Display cable 1.4 and 1 USB type A to type B cable included in the box with cable length around 1.8 meter each. 6. Panel : It's a 10 bit(8 bit + FRC) IPS panel with matte anti-glare coating with max brightness around 400 candela per square meter. You can run the monitor in 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratios. 7. Monitor stand : Very nice, stable stand with Tilt(5 degree forward and 15 degree backward tilt)/Height(Adjust upwards around 11 cm )/Pivot(Only clockwise) . Stand also comes with a cable management clip. 8. Gaming : For PC gaming use the Display port to get the max refresh rate and 1ms response rate. It comes with VESA certified AdaptiveSync / NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible / AMD FreeSync and DisplayHDR 400 / DCI-P3 98% (Typ.). Cons : 1. I got it initially for 23.1 K after card discount but the piece i received had a DEAD PIXEL at top center and i could not unsee it once i noticed it. I have returned it and ordered a new one which was fine. I am still waiting for the return pickup though. The second monitor i ordered was for about 27.1 K. Now this is very rare and you would not probably get it. I think i got the same piece which is reviewed by "Raghav Mavi" in the amazon ratings. So this is basically the only con i noticed that i had to pay extra 4k to get a clean monitor. 2. if i am nitpicking, i would say that the forward tilt angle is a little less and the lowest position is the monitor is a bit high.

Pros: > Monitor Performs, exceptionally Good when it comes preserving colors and Contrast too, actually it is bit surprising to see that contrast has been improvised in IPS panel. >PS5 Games looks amazing, gets 4k input. > Great color volume when watched in SDR mode and idle SDR content for normal watching is eye candy. > 200hz, I haven't experienced yet since I'm yet to build Gaming PC with GPU that has Display port, however 144hz works like a charm. > Last but not least, the Panel has surprisingly zero blooming and IPS glow is acceptable, quite impressive. Cons: The only concern about the panel is often times I tend to see some flickering artifacts while performing office tasks that has white or light color background when put to low brightness. > Though it has HDR mode, i would recommend gaming and watching content in SDR mode and disable HDR, since the color seems in-accurate and off and the black doesn't look that deep black and looks bloomy.

The LG 27GS85Q is a solid choice for anyone seeking a high-performance budget monitor, especially for gaming and general productivity. The design is sleek and modern. The stand is sturdy and offers decent tilt, height, and swivel adjustments. The monitor supports refresh rates of upto 200Hz (Overclocked), 1ms GtG response time and both FreeSync & G-SYNC for AMD & NVIDIA users respectively. Connectivity options are great, with two HDMI ports, a DisplayPort, a USB hub, no inbuilt speakers but it does have a 3.5mm Audio Jack. The unit comes with both HDMI and DP cable, USB upstream cable and a power brick. Importantly, there were no dead or stuck pixels on the display, which is always a great sign of quality control. The monitor performs flawlessly with a bright and consistent image, free from any noticeable flaws. Know that the photos that I've attached don't do it justice, the monitor has good black uniformity and no backlight bleed IRL. If you're in the market for a versatile and well-rounded 27-inch monitor, the 27GS85Q is certainly worth considering.
